Hello, I'm Tamara. I'm a mother of two, a wife, and a lifelong student of the sacred.
Pregnancy, birth, and motherhood have been the most profound and transformative experiences of my life. I am disappointed that popular culture too often medicalizes and minimizes the incredible gifts, challenges, and opportunities of the childbearing journey.
Tend was born out of a deep desire that arose in my first pregnancy journey—to be seen, held, and accompanied by a diverse and intergenerational community of women.
As I have learned more about the history, culture, and biology of childbearing, and grieved the state of maternal health in the US, I strongly believe that this vision is essential to our individual and collective thriving.
I have spent the past five years researching birth and rites of passage across cultures and collecting stories and community practices from friends, elders, midwives, wisdom keepers, care practitioners and healers. These collective insights, along with my own embodied experiences, inspired me to co-found Tend in 2022.
I hope this community is a place where you feel seen, supported, and celebrated on your unique journey.
Together, may we remember who we are and the beauty we can make.

This work is grounded and inspired by the many elders, wisdom keepers, relatives, and midwives who have worked for generations to protect and embody women's sovereignty and wisdom.
